All of us at PPL would like to congratulate Brian Butler on winning The Commercial Motors Magazine Haulage Hero. He was nominated for his outstanding performance as Warehouse Manager. He has been our forklifter for the past 5 years and now rules his warehouse with an iron rod. He reguarly works a 12 hour day and is always kind and helpful whilst dealing with drivers who would be more than happy for him to do all THEIR work as well.
Brian has overcome losing his finger after falling off a roof to become the quickest loader in the South East of England. If a driver dares to take his time, Brian has also an array of hand signals that he can use, but without one of his fingers as mentioned it can make for some confusion!!!
Brian also regularly directs drivers to where they should be parked by running towards them with a bright red face whilst using a huge roll of shrink wrap to point to the place they should be parked for loading and with a cheerful grin shouts "OPEN UP MATE" at which point even the slowest driver jumps to attention.
Brian never has a day off sick and is always lively - even first thing on a Monday morning (which may have something to do with the amount of alcohol consumed at the weekend). Brian just can't wait to get out there and load those pallets. In his spare time he enjoys sweeping the warehouse to make sure its clean enought o eat your dinner on, in case we get any visitors or potential new customers.
We couldn't work without him.
