Day 19 of our World Cup Competition.

by David 30. June 2010 20:18

Well Spain go through to the quarter-finals after a quite boring match with Portugal, final result was 1-0. However the Japan v Paraguay ended in a penalty shoot out in which Paraguay won 5 - 3 as Komano for Japan missed his penalty. It was quite funny to see the Paraguay coach crying and in shock as his team went through to the quarter-finals he was sitting on his bench for a good 5 minutes after the penalties had finished in quite a mess hugging and crying the second coach haha bless him.

So the transfer window is open till friday at 2pm and you can make another 4 transfers if you wish. At this stage in the game I dont think you should be dropping players who have more than 20 points as there is only 3 games left to play. So choose your players wisely. Castor Ltd seems to be runing away with the lead at the moment and maybe soon will be 100 points clear of the the other teams in our PPL Mini League, see below:

Day 18 of our World Cup Competition.

by David 29. June 2010 20:14

Wow Brazil cetainly showed Chile who are the legends of the World Cup Sateg last night. Their defence was so tight at the back that Chile hardly had a shot on goal. The Result was 3-0.

Here are a few stats you might not know about Brazil and the Netherlands in the World Cup Competition:

67 wins in 96 FIFA World Cup matches gives Brazil a win ratio of virtually 70 per cent

40 games have been played by the Netherlands at the FIFA World Cup and their win ratio is exactly 50 per cent. Their record is W20 D10 L10.

23 games unbeaten makes the Netherlands' current streak the longest in their history

12 successive wins is the run that the Netherlands are on in this competition, including their eight wins from as many qualifying games. The last country to lift the trophy having won every single game during the preliminary phase and tournament proper were Brazil, who won all 12 fixtures in 1970.

12 years have passed since the Netherlands last appeared in the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals. Their previous appearances were 1974, 1978, 1994 and 1998.

11 goals have been scored by Brazil against Chile in FIFA World Cup knockout ties. They won 4-1 at this stage in 1998 and 4-2 in the 1962 semi-final.

8 goals in six games against Chile make Robinho the scourge of Brazil's South American neighbours.

6 matches have been completed in the Round of 16 and only one – tonight's game between Brazil and Chile – has seen the winning team keep a clean sheet.

5 group winners have filled the six quarter-final places to be decided so far at South Africa 2010. The only section winners to miss out are USA.

4 wins in their first four games represents the Netherlands' best-ever start to a FIFA World Cup. In 1974 they won four successive games – the final match in the
initial group stage and then all three in the second group stage – before losing in the Final to West Germany.

4 goals have been scored by Robert Vittek to put him alongside Gonzalo Higuain in the race for the adidas Golden Boot. With Slovakia's defeat by the Netherlands, he will not be able to increase that total but at least he has the honour of scoring the most by a debutant in the tournament since Davor Suker hit six for Croatia in 1998 to become the tournament's top marksman.

TODAY THE SECOND TRANSFER WINDOW OPENS UNTIL FRIDAY 2ND JULY AT 2PM (BST)  Don't forget to email me at David@premierfleet.net

Day 17 of our World Cup Competition

by David 28. June 2010 20:16

Wow what a crap weekend for England, USA, Mexico and Korea, they all failed to deliver the goods on the sameday. But don't worry lads we have a few vacancies in our 12,000 sq. ft. warehouse if you know anything about storage and have some time to spare before the next season haha.

I'm glad I missed it to be honest, I fell asleep after my sunday lunch (must have been a good one) not caring as I thought the match was in the evening, only to find out at 7:27pm that it had already finished when I spoke to a friend on the phone. Anyway thorwing the thought of pallet deliveries and pallet collections out of my mind I decided to watch the Argentina match instead and was pleased with the fact that good old Carlos Tevez bagged 2 goals and Higuain scored the other and I have both of them in my team (big grin) so I'm gambling on a Brazil v Argentina Final with Argentina to win.

Here is our team of the day and the PPL Mini League:

Well would you believe it, Italy are out, the winners of the last World Cup dip out in the group stages, what a shocker haha, GREAT! They can go and drown their sorrows with the french team.

I must say Japan played a blinding game against denmark with the result of Japan 3-1 Denmark.

I bet Ikea will be quiet sunday afternoon, and we all know why, so common England lets beat the Germans schnell machhen.

Day 12 of our World Cup Competition

by David 23. June 2010 22:41

Today is the day hey!! "COMMON ENGLAND". And what a bad time 3pm. I'm sure lots of people at work will be tuning in via the bbc/iplayer while others less fortunate on the roads will be listening to TalkSport or other radio stations. I myself will be hiding behind my chair in the office hoping that Slovenia does not score and that Capello's choice team gives our nation something to be proud of. Damn, this is a scary game as we could go out of the World Cup today if we don't play our lions right. Nigeria knows that feeling already and South Africa, we sure don't want to be coming into work tommorrow with sad faces. We want to be excited for the next match in the last 16.

What would you change? what team players would you player? These are all questions I bet you have been asking yourself over the last few days. Me, personally I would keep the scousers together, Gerrard and Rooney, they are the only ones that can understand each others accent haha. And I would drop Johnston and bring on someone with a bit more pace, who can break up the defence on a good run, like Matthew Upson, Sure , bring on the Ashley Cole in defence with John Terry and Ledley King, Hmmmmmm midfielders Shaun-Wright Philips has some good legs on him and bring on Joe Cole and Aaron Lennon. And we deinitely need Crouch with his long legs for them headers for corners, free-kicks etc. So their you have my team. Oh and keep David James in goal as he has the most experience in my opinion. Or bring back David Seaman haha, but definitely don't choose Rob "Mr. Butter-fingers" Green.

Aside all of this football we do actually run a transport business here and all this football is because we have a competition running with our customers, who have the chance to win some great prizes. Although no-one has got back to me yet with "Who is going to win the golden boot?" or "Who is going to win the golden gloves?" £75 and a bottle of Moet Chandon is still up for grabs. So get your names in now.

Dont forget that we have a new warehouse and still have plenty of space for all your storage needs. And we have a special 10% off offer this month if you quote the code BS2306*.

Below is our top team in our league and the league itself:

Day 11 of our World Cup Competition

by David 22. June 2010 19:39

Firstly, on a different note, one of our customers are sending their old computers to a charity in Africa. We liked this so we decided to do our bit too and deliver them free of charge to Bury St. Edmunds from where they will be forwarded to Africa. If your reading this blog and need help in organising transport for a good cause then please feel free to email deborah@premierfleet.net

Well I bet everyone who had a portugal player in their team yesterday were rubbing there hands together when they heard that Portugal had beaten Korea DPR 7-0. I certainly was one of them. Although I was surprised to find that there were 6 different players who had scored and that it was only Tiago that had scored 2. I was expecting Ronaldo to have scored at least 2 if that was the score but he had only scored a very lucky goal apparently.

The game I watched yesterday was Spain v Honduras. It was great to see the Spanish team back on form as I also had some of them in my team. David Villa being the man that delivered the goods on the night (hmmm that phrase can't be bad for SEO haha) Cesc Fabregas came on after half-time all bearded up and looking like an old man, how old is he? I'm sure he is only in his 20's but looking more like in his 40's with the beard. And I should imagine that it was the aero dynamics of his facial hair that must have stopped him from scoring on the night. But his first rush looked quite promising as he took a shot at goal from about 8 yards within about 1 minute of being subbed on.

Well big news of the day is "THE TRANSFER WINDOW IS NOW OPEN!!!!!!!!" The first Transfer Window is now open! You can now make four changes, including dropping your England player, which will become active at 2pm BST on Saturday 26th June.

Day 10 of our World Cup Competition

by David 21. June 2010 22:25

Well, well, well what an exciting weekend of football shananagans. Lots of points scored in the PPL Mini-League. I could go on all day about England drawing with Algeria but I will spare you as I'm sure you will want to forget it as soon as possible. Meanwhile there was a few more surprises that raised more than an eyebrow or two. Germany losing 0-1 to Serbia. Who would have guessed that? But one of the more noticeable events that stood out was the Brazil vs Ivory Coast game where Luis Fabiano scored two goals and Elano managed to neatly place a third. Then you could see that the Ivory Coast team started to get very physical with the Brazilian players, and I said to my friend "keep watching there is going to be a fight in a minute", as i could see the physical abuse escalating. And then it almost kicked off and the referee dished out a yellow card to one of the Ivory Coasts team. But the biggest thing that stood out to me was the foul on the Brazilians quality player Kaka who found himself awkwardly getting sent off for purely defending his own space whilst not having the ball and the Ivory Coasts Kader Keita fell to the ground holding his face, when clearly Kaka had only made contact with his chest. See video below for a more detailed look and watch that the referee also did not witness the incident

Back in 2002 there was a similar situation with Brazils own Rivaldo.

Pauls Punters are still top but he is getting caught up by a few more hungry teams, see below:

Day 7 of our World Cup Competition

by David 18. June 2010 20:52
Mexico scored two second-half goals which gave them their first ever victory over France to leave El Tri in a good position to make the last 16 and the 2006 runners-up France on the verge of elimination. France absolutely did not look like a team that wanted to win. The low -esteem of the players and manager was clearly visible. Mexico were hungry you could see that in the way they played and their team spirit was high. I've never seen France play so bad. They had very good world class players in their team but rarley found an oppurtunity to put a shot on target.

Argentina, Argentina, Argentina, hmmmmmmm, the more I see this side play the more I feel they are potential finalists. The South Koreans really didn't have much of a chance did they as Argentina dazzled them with their superior quality. Higuain managed to score a hat-trick which was the first World Cup hat-trick since Portugal's Pauleta in 2002 and the first from an Argentine since Gabriel Batistuta in 1998. But the South Koreans did manage to score one home goal and a goal against Argentina.so the result was 4-1.

The Super Eagles did not have a good day against Greece and the score was 2-1 to Greece, leaving Nigeria having to beat South Korea more than 2 goals in order to qualify for the last 16.

Day 7 of our World Cup Competition

by David 17. June 2010 19:30
"Bafana! Bafana!" Oh dear what a bad night for the host team South Africa. Tshabalala's performance really was quite terrible. All his free kicks and corners did not find the zone and eventually it was Diego Forlan the ex-Man. Utd player who scored the first goal from around 30 yards from the goal. Forlan’s goal in the 24th minute not only gave Uruguay 1-0 advantage before the half but as well changed the entire complexion of the match. Then I believe South Africa lost its motivation instead of thinking they could still be in the game. But doom and gloom had been decided for South Africa as their goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune tried to save a goal and just clipped the foot of Uruguay's Luis Suarez to commit a foul and was awarded a red card. Then it was Diego Forlan who had to wait 5 or 6 minuites while South Africa were preparing goalkeeper no.2 before he could take a penalty that was text book style to give him 2 goals for the match. And as if things couldn't get worse for the host nation along comes Alvaro Pereira in the 5th minute of stoppage time with a header to make it a 3-0 victory for Uruguay.

But the shock of the day had to be in the Spain vs Switzerland match where Switzerlands Gelson Fernandes goal in the 52nd minute was enough to propel the Swiss to the top of the group.

seeing red card.

Meanwhile in the Honduras vs Chile match it had been a long wait for Chile to finally win a World Cup finals since its last victory was 48 years ago. In that World Cup victory, which was in 1962 when Chile won 13 football matches, they held a draw with Spain and Northern Ireland but unfortunately defeated by Yugoslavia to finish third place. And now against Honduras there was a goal during the first half in the 34th minute made by Beausejour

Day 6 of our World Cup Competition

by David 16. June 2010 21:53

"Forget the Politics for 90 minutes", that was the writing on a fansign last night. Oh yes after 44 years they are back. No, I'm not talking about our winning 1966 team, I'm talking about North Korea. And what a defensive impact they made on Brazil, who found it so hard to break their defense that the match went into half-time still at 0-0. Well we all knew it could not stay like that and Brazil went on to score 2 goals, the first by Maicon who went on to win man of the match and then the second by Elano who got substitued almost immediately afterwards.

Woah, hang on, do you think North Korea gave up that easily? Nope. Ji Yun-Nam managed to scored the first goal in 44 years in a World Cup final in the 87th minute. But it was too late as Brazil had dominated the second half and had nearly made it 3 goals before the North Korean goal. There was a mention that there were chinese actors in the crowd who were pretending to be North Korean supporters and did you see the coat that the Brazil manager was wearing? I didn't know they had Kays Catalogue in Brazil. Ha Ha.

Other results from day 5 were Portugal 0-0 Ivory Coast and New Zealand 1-1 Slovakia.

Well our mystery Lady is still in pole position, but seeing that she has no spanish players in her team then that could leave her 6 yard box open for another team to goto the top of our PPL Mini League.

And below is our Mini-League of Death which is in 6,508th position in the suns competition with an average score of 18.35:
