Aug 09 Our New ‘PPL Night Time’ deliveries
Customer research has indicated a significant and increasing demand for deliveries which take place between 6.00pm and midnight in certain areas of the country – particularly in London.
So we are arranging this brand new service With PPL Night Time, we can offer you:
- Deliveries to premises that are located in pedestrianised
and other areas where access is restricted during the day - Home deliveries at times convenient to the consignee
A surcharge of £10 per pallet will apply.
Aug 09 Pallex : Supply Chain Excellence Awards Finalists
As you know PPL is an award-winning Pall Ex partner and it was great for us to hear that against tough competition they have been shortlisted for one of Europe’s most prestigious Industry Awards.
The European Supply Chain Excellence Awards, held on Thursday 12th November 2009, recognise excellence and acclaim within the industry, and Pall-Ex has been shortlisted in the Environmental Improvement Category for its pioneering Eco-Drive service.

Pall-Ex Shortlisted for Yet Another Top Industry Award!
The 2009 IFW Awards, in its 13th consecutive year, are one of the most sought after accolades in the industry, and Pall-EX has been shortlisted for the coveted Innovation Award.
Founded in the UK in 1996, the Leicestershire company is in good shape to win the award, with stiff competition from the five other shortlisted candidates DB Schenker Rail, FreightScan, Palletforce, Palletline and UPS.
The winner of the awards will be announced at a ceremony held on Thursday 15 October 2009 at Chelsea Football Club, London.

Aug 09 Fantasy Football League - join in and have some fun!
We know that a lot of our clients are football fanatics, hence we thought we could put together a PPL Fantasy Football League and see which one of our customers really is the font of all knowledge (welll football knowledge anyway!)
The rules are simple, pick your team and we will will enter it, pay for it, then email you your log in and password to track your success along with the rest of the PPL customers.
Jul 09 PPL Goes Green
PPL have ditched its old double deck trailers and have opted for the “Eco Friendly” sloped fronted trailers. The “Eco” trailer is more aerodynamic and will make a fuel saving of 7% per year year per trailer. This equates to 8000 ltrs of diesel and a mileage saving of over 15,000 miles. This will have a significant financial saving but above all will mean PPL are reducing there carbon footprint. Managing Director, Mrs Jenkins, added “Any saving in todays climate is a god send, especially if the enviroment benefits too”.
June 09: PPL Staff News, a big thank you and welcome back!
A special mention goes out to George McKlinley and Matthew Heskel for going “over and above their daily duty”. Back on the 12th May a PPL Lorry broke down, when a truck breaks down it is a very expensive and painfull procedure, this was made worse by the fact it was 5.30pm on a Friday evening. George and Matthew not only recovered the lorry to our mechanics in Hayes but then transferred our customer’s freight to another vehicle; on top of this they held our night trunk back so that all of our customer’s freight was sent up that night. They did not finish until 11pm that night. We are confident that our staff are committed but this really does reassure us. Thank you George and Matthew.
Also, welcome back Tony Ret who has been of with a Knee problem for 2 – 3 months. Tony is one of our longest serving drivers and apart from being extremely quick he is very popular with PPL staff and customers.
May 09 PPL Puts an end to the Fuel Surcharge
As of 1st May 2009 PPL scrapped the 3% fuel surcharge that had applied since last year.
Over the last 12 months we have all seen fuel prices rise, peaking at £1.36 in July 2008. Although they have dropped significantly they are still higher than our last price increase, which was over 4 years ago.
As you may be aware, the Chancellor has pledged to increase fuel by 2p in September and a further penny in January 2010. To combat this and to try and stave off a future “Fuel Surcharge” PPL will be increasing their prices from September 2009 by just £1.50 per pallet on the overnight system and 5% on the sameday prices.
We hope you all agree that this is long overdue and it is fairer than the never ending fuel surcharge.
